BDE 5.01 and InstallShield Express

BDE version 4.5.1 is distributed with Visual dBASE 7. At this time you can download the new BDE 5.01 from the INPRISE web site.

Before you distribute the BDE 5.01 with your application, you must update your InstallShield Express with some files. If not, you get an error by the installation on the target machine. Here are what you must do.

1st Step

You must download the InstallShield Express update from the dBASE Inc  web site.

2nd Step

You must download the file bu03isus.exe. With this file you get all files you need to update InstallShield Express to use the BDE 5.01.

IF you have Visual dBASE Professional

Copy the files IDAPI.CNF and IDAPINST.DLL into the InstallShield/IS Express for Visual dBASE/redist sub-sub-directory. Copy the files SWDEPEND.INI  into the InstallShield/IS Express for Visual dBASE sub-directory.

IF you have Visual dBASE Client/Server

Copy all files *.CNF and IDAPINST.DLL into the InstallShield/IS Express for Visual dBASE/redist sub-sub-directory. Copy the files SWDEPEND.INI and ISDEPEND.INI into the InstallShield/IS Express for Visual dBASE sub-directory.

With the BDE 5.01 update, you get new SQL links for Oracle 8 and Informix 9.
